Offered: July 20-31, 2020, Monday – Friday, 9am-3pm
Today, even professional filmmakers use smart-phones for movie-making. Immerse yourself in the entire filmmaking process from initial ideas to the premiere screening using your tablet or smartphone. This summer two-week intensive program provides a foundation for filmmaking skills including lighting, camera, composition, and editing. Students learn how to gain professional quality results with easily obtained and accessible equipment. Teen filmmakers work collaboratively as they write scripts, prepare storyboards, and shoot and edit the projects. The program culminates with an online screening for students, friends, and families. The course is taught by Felipe Cardona, television producer, university professor (including SFI) and creator of digital media managed by students from the web and mobile devices. Please note that the class runs 10:00AM-2:00pm Pacific Time. The first two hours of the day focus on instruction and the next two hours provide time for collaborative work sessions with instructor support. Students must have access to a smartphone or tablet and have the ability to purchase up to $35 worth of mobile applications for their device. Students may also want to utilize a personal computer system for downloading their videos and editing or can choose to work completely with their mobile device. College credit is available for this course.
