Filmmaking: Hands-on training in all aspects of filmmaking in our working film studio in a uniquely collaborative environment.
SFI is the destination for students who are ready to turn their dreams and aspirations into reality. For one intense year students live, eat and breathe filmmaking in class, and on the set.
The Filmmaking Concentration provides a comprehensive and integrated foundation in all aspects of filmmaking, in an environment where students collaborate with their fellow classmates on crew-based projects and also with students from all of the other field-specific concentrations at SFI and will have a portfolio of work that includes producing, directing, editing, cinematography, sound design and more.
Students complete a 5th quarter capstone project working with classmates from all of our other disciplines in a truly unique and collaborative experience that readies them for real world career work in their chosen discipline.
Seattle Film Institute is the only film school in the United States bringing together all of these filmmaking programs within the immediacy of one building.

As it stands now (2009) I am currently the Daybreak Producer for KVII-TV Pronews 7 in Amarillo Texas. I began there as a Photographer and improved my shooting skills through taping live news as it took place, I then was given chance to showcase some of my writing skills(again thanks to David Trees) and was moved to the position of reporter. I was then asked If i could take over producing two evening newscasts and i took right too it. Now after about two years working at the station I am in charge of my own hour and a half broadcast, writing stories, choosing the line up, editing the video, setting interview, and all the other wonderful craziness involved with life television. I could not be where i am today, doing what i love, making good money, without the education I received at the Seattle Film Institute. And not only did the faculty give me an education, they have given me YEARS worth of support to carry me farther than I could have dreamed. I love you guys"
