Seattle Film Institute has partnered with the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program to offer the only one-year Master of Music Degree in Music Composition for Film and Media available in the United States. This internationally lauded MM (Master of Music) in Film Composition degree is a thorough immersion into writing music for Film, TV, and other media and prepares graduates to enter those fields with the skill set, experience and professional portfolio necessary to launch a successful career. The program is led by two-time Emmy Award winning composer Hummie Mann.
The goal of The Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program is to produce the most prepared graduates of any film-scoring program currently offered.
"Over the years I have had the pleasure to meet and work with several graduates of the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program. There is something special about this program, the fact that it is boutique. They are part of a small group mentored personally by Hummie Mann and the excellent faculty. This leads to a maturity in both their skills and character that stand out above the pack."
- Tim Davies, Orchestrator/Conductor: Ant-Man, Minions, Frozen

"The Master of Music program was by far some of the best music instruction I've ever gotten. The material is contemporary, relevant, and practical, and is perhaps the first time I was truly taught how to write music, and how to achieve particular effects. Dr. Mann makes sure that every note we write matters. What's great is that the program also teaches you about the industry, such as finding work, using different music tech, and also giving you the best opportunity of all: conducting live, professional ensembles. I don't think there is a better all-around film music program out there."
